Three Line Pencil Fish

This interesting looking pencilfish has an elongated snout. Coloration varies, though most are a silvery-gold color with dark horizontal striping. Fins are transparent, though there is usually a black and red marking on the anal fin. Peaceful and small, pencilfish make great community tank inhabitants. They tend to be schooling fish, though they spend most of their time hovering rather than swimming. Feed a mixture of flake supplemented regularly with small live foods, such as brine shrimp and bloodworms. They prefer a planted tank with ample shaded areas.
